Addison’s disease is a rare disease that only 100,000 people in our world have today. It occurs when the Adrenal gland does not create enough hormones such as cortisol and aldosterone necessary for everyday body functions. This disease is not curable due to the little information and awareness. For Katie, her situation could have been avoided if the doctors knew that she had Addison’s disease, but due to the lack of education about this disease, she almost passed away.
